      In the strict hegelian sense,the very antithesis of freedom is slavery.Discipline then becomes a       specific condition of slavery.v In the strict kantian sense however,there must be order in       everything & the antithesis of order is disorder.discipline then becomes a specific condition for          maintaining order.

      However ,discipline too must be questioned at every stage with the same questions:· Is it       necessary?Does it add value to the business?The answer to all 3 of these questions in the       affirmative discipine must be pursued zealously.if not ,rules will become the reason for the       existence & behaviour of man rather than the instruments meant for his convenience.

      Then,when does liberty become license?where does the hr facilitator draw the line?

      Visualize the picture of a knowledge based worker sitting up late in his office & going home             at midnight.he is to meet a deadline & entirely in the overall interest of the organisation.now,to       expect the employee to clock in with the rest of the office staff at 9.00 am the following       morning is asking too much & then to penalize him for coming late,say at 11.00 am is ridiculous !
      But such things do happen.however,artists & specialised workers often work in spasms & short       busts of activity which are followed by a lull.

      Hence it is quite acceptable to have such persons who take liberty with time & manner as long as       the rights of others & the interest of the organisation is not in jeopardy.

      Freedom then should mean allowing others to exercise their rights & not imposing one's will on       the others. [liberty is not license].no abuse of power or authority of conflict was reported.so,no       action can be taken.but what the hr facilitator must do at once,is to issue a code of conduct& a       code of ethics which while respecting individual eccentricities,makes for such allowance.the hr       facilitator is is not a school teacher or a class monitor.he has to recognize & respect the fact that       the persons are adding value to the organisation & not causing any damage to the organisation.

      For instance,it is quite common to see professors living on the campus going to their offices at       4.00 a.m & not going to work for the days.as long as the students donot suffer nor the the       institute earn a bad name,these professors are adding value all the time & their eccentricities       must must be respected.so is the case with research scientists & other knowledge based superior       workers.
