HR Best Practice: “ Tapping Quantum Potential in People_________Continued”
We will continue our discussion which we started in the last release (No.14) viz How HR must enable people to develop into quantum beings and how they can realize quantum potential in them in the service of the organization. This means the organization can immensely benefit through utilizing people’s highest creative and productivities.

In the last release, we mentioned that the Quantum Skills can act as a decoder for our hidden potentials. To explain what it means, take the example of sunlight. It looks white; however, when it shines through a prism, all the colours of the rainbow suddenly appear. The colures are simply invisible to normal human perception without a decoding device. Light is a good metaphor for life. For in life, as in light, there are always invisible potentials. What decoder can be used to see life’s potentials? The seven Quantum skills, (given below) , like the prism, can act as a decoder. As we work with these skills, we will begin to see more; and therefore, we will be more. We will be able to re-create our lives, and together we will be able to re-create our organizations.

The Quantum Skills

The Quantum Worldview (given in the following table)provides the conceptual foundation for the seven Quantum Skills. This worldview characterizes the universe as a dynamic, unpredictable, subjective, self-organizing system rather than as a Static, Predictable, Objective machine. Such a view demands new skills.

Two Worldviews

From a Newtonian Perspective the World is: From a Quantum Perspective the world is:
1.Material, Visible Concrete 1.Intangible, Invisible, abstract.

2.Static, Stable, Passive inert 2.Dynamic, Vibrating, Continuously changing
3.Predictable, Controllable 3.Unpredictable,indeterminate
4.Unaffected by observation, reality is objective 4.Affected by the consciousness of the observer; reality is subjective.
5.A machine, things are best understood by reducing them to their parts, the parts determine the whole. 5.A system, esp a livingsystem;everything is part of an interrelated whole; the whole determine the parts.
6.Controlled locally, cause and effect are clearly discerned. 6.Affected by much more than meets the eye; things happen “from a distance”.
7.Dependant upon extrinsic energy sources, without external force things fall apart 7.Filled with energy; energy is intrinsic to life and its systems.

The Seven Quantum skills enable us not only to see the world from a new prospective, but to be in the world in a new way.

The Seven Quantum skills are defined below:

1. Quantum Seeing : The ability to see intentionally

2. Quantum Thinking : The ability to think paradoxically

3. Quantum Feeling : The ability to feel vitally alive

4.Quantum Knowing : The ability to know

5. Quantum Acting : The ability to get responsibly

6. Quantum Trusting : The ability to trust life

7. Quantum Being : The ability to be in relationship.

The Quantum skills are both ancient and futuristic, scientific & mystical, simple and difficult. They are skills for a new millennium, but they originated in the wisdom of ages past. In fact, many of the world’s ancient spiritual practices, as well as many of our contemporary psychological theories, are based on concepts that are similar to the quantum mechanical principles from which these skills are derived.

These seven Quantum Skills do not function independently. They represent an integrated set.

The following figure graphically displays the relationships among the seven skills.

The Quantum Skills Model

The three skills represented by the inverted triangle – Quantum Seeing, Quantum thinking & Quantum feeling- are primarily psychological in nature.

The skills connected to the upright triangle- Quantum knowing, Quantum Acting, & Quantum Trusting- are spiritual skills.

The center skill , Quantum Being is intricately connected to each of the other Quantum Skills. In the next release, we will explain how practice of these psycho-spiritual skills will increase our conscious awareness & giving us increased ability to have conscious choice about how we wish to live & work.
